Types of Siding to Consider:

Vinyl

Vinyl siding comes in all types of shapes, sizes, colors, and thicknesses. It can be installed in a wide variety of climates including the Greater Cincinnati area. Vinyl siding is also usually the most cost effective siding product.

Shapes

The most prominent vinyl siding shapes include Double Clapboard ranging anywhere from 3” to 8” panels and Dutch Lap styles. Other styles such as Board and Batten, Cedar Shake, Smooth Grain, and Wood Grain are also available.

Sizes

The size or width of the siding panel can vary greatly depending on product and manufacturer. Most popular in our market are 4” or 5” vinyl siding panels.

Colors

Each brand of vinyl siding has its own color palette. Please keep in mind that darker colors often come at a higher cost due to the manufacturing costs needed to warranty a darker shade from fading.

Thickness

Builder grade vinyl siding starts at a thickness of .040” and also comes in higher grades including .042” and .044”. Premium vinyl siding also comes with an insulation board attached to provide a more sturdy application with a higher insulation value. At Your Service Roofing offers several brands to choose from and we install any vinyl siding at the .044” thickness and above.

Fiber Cement

Fiber Cement siding is a composite material made from cement, sand, water and cellulose fibers. It is shaped into various size and shape boards and installed as lap siding much like wood siding. Fiber Cement siding will need to be painted and will result in the ongoing maintenance just like any exterior painted siding. When installed properly, a fiber cement siding should last at least 25 years and up to as much as 50 years.

Wood

Wood siding is a traditional product made from natural wood such as Redwood, Cedar, Spruce, Fir, and even Pine. In the Greater Cincinnati area and climate region, we highly recommend Redwood or Cedar for siding applications. These products will need to be stained or painted for proper longevity and therefore require fairly regular maintenance.
