A seven-kilometre-long hiking trail offers exercise and nature exploration. At the park’s sand beach, swimmers and sunbathers can enjoy the view of the lake’s south shore. A boat ramp and two electric motor boats are available for use on the lake.

The state park is home to thousands of turkeys and white-tailed deer, which are available for hunting. Clermont County, where the park is situated, was a vital link in the Underground Railroad mostly because it was located just across the border from the slave-owning states of Virginia and Kentucky. It is also famous for being the birthplace of Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant.

Hiking

The bedrock layers of this region were once entombed by water that formed the Cincinnati Arch, an arched feature of uplifted rock that passes through St. Colonelick Lake and the park. The park’s woodlands provide a peaceful retreat with ample opportunities for hiking. Visitors can explore the trails, which are a mix of beginner and intermediate levels. They can also join in on a stargazing session with local amateur astronomers if the weather permits it.

Fishing
